Wild Awake is a parent-present homeschool enrichment community in Wytheville, Virginia, created for families who want learning to feel more connected, hands-on, collaborative, and alive.
We will gather weekly for nature-based activities, creative projects, practical skills, seasonal studies, storytelling, play, and real-world learning. Spirituality is woven naturally throughout as children explore intuition, imagination, energy, self-trust, their unique gifts, and their connection to the Earth and beyond.
Our first semester is a pilot season—rustic, evolving, and full of possibility. We’ll begin by meeting outdoors on our property, learning together, and shaping the community as we go. Families will be invited to share ideas, offer skills, and help create experiences around everything from gardening and herbal remedies to art, photography, building, entrepreneurship, and old-world crafts.
It’s not quite Hogwarts—but we are absolutely taking a page from that book.
We may not have every detail perfectly mapped out yet, but we have a big vision: to create a place where children can become more confident in who they are, develop their gifts, learn meaningful skills, and experience education as something purposeful, connected, and a little magical.

We want Wild Awake to offer children some of the community experiences homeschoolers can sometimes miss.
As we grow (big vision here!) we hope to include:
+school pictures
+ seasonal celebrations
+ field trips
+ showcases and performances
+ family festivals
markets and maker days
+ clubs and special-interest groups
graduation and milestone celebrations
+ parent workshops and family events
Some of these offerings may begin small or be introduced as our community grows.
The larger vision is to create a place where children and families can build traditions, friendships, and meaningful memories together.

Wild Awake is beginning as a small weekly enrichment community, but we hope it will grow organically alongside the families who gather here.
Over time, that may include additional gathering days, deeper unit studies, optional workshops, digital curriculum, seasonal events, and a dedicated indoor learning space (we are half way there!)
Something with room for wonder, muddy boots, big questions, practical skills, spiritual exploration, and children who are still allowed to be fully human while they learn.

As a homeschooling family with three young children, we dreamed of creating the kind of local community we wanted for our own family—one where children could learn, explore, create, and grow alongside families who see the world a little differently.
Wild Awake is a local homeschool enrichment community rooted in connection, hands-on learning, nature, creativity, and spirituality. We explore intuition, dreams, energy, meditation, prayer, spiritual gifts, and the unseen parts of life in grounded, age-appropriate ways.
Through weekly gatherings, seasonal experiences, workshops, celebrations, and shared learning, our hope is to help children trust their inner knowing and deepen their connection to themselves, one another, the Earth, and something greater.
Our coming homeschool units and digital resources are an extension of that same vision for families beyond our local community.
